I am interested in bridging traditional media and processes with contemporary ways of working to make installation artworks. My recent installations have combined digital printing, painting, and drawing techniques with photographic images and "found" objects: I print, paint, and draw onto a variety of supports which are then accumulated to create a layering of images, texts, and media. Two recent installations - Janus Doorway and Improbable Spring - have also included audio components, bringing a performative and time-based element into the pieces. The content of my work has focused on issues of temporality, memory and history and how the acts of remembering and forgetting relate to our identity -- personally, culturally, and politically. |
